1st Semester Reflection

I.
I feel like the quality of my work has been relatively neat and well composed, and has improved as I have grown more comfortable with Photoshop. When it comes to shooting assignments, I think I could be a little more creative and put more effort into how I shoot my photos and what I take pictures of. For example, I think I could experiment more with angles and lighting to make my projects better. I have participated in this class and have completed every assignment on time, and only after I've finished an assignment I move onto something else. I think I could improve upon the way I shoot my photos, as stated before, I think I could play around with lighting and camera angle, and other things along that line. I have used Photoshop prior to this class but it had been a long while so I feel that I caught onto how to use Photoshop fairly quickly once I was refreshed on the basics and I think my work shows how I have become more comfortable with the program.
I think my quality of work image wise is fairly decent, but I could definitely work on contrast of an image and angles of the subject. The quality of my subject matter, I admit could be more creative, as the majority of my images are taken around my house or neighborhood, and I could go other places or take pictures when I'm out at different areas to improve the subject matter. I have fulfilled all the instructions to each assignment and have tried to push myself past them. In my index prints, I always have the correct number of images to meet the requirements and always in proper focus. Proper format and resolution has been used on all of my images along with size requirements, if there is a certain size a project needs to be. The work that I have done has always been completed on time unless there was a problem with my computer, which there was at the beginning of the year, and even then, I managed to make it up by the required make up date. I think when I think of an idea for my project, I try to go beyond my first idea, but I think I could go farther and play around more with the subjects I have in shooting projects and effects on Photoshop.
I take the required amount of photos for each project and try to take more, though I feel like I could be more creative, as I have stated before and take even more. Convenience has played a role in my photography, as my parents don't get home until later, so I don't always have a ride if I wanted to shoot somewhere else besides my neighborhood or outside my house, but that's okay. I think of ideas when the project is first assigned, and though I may not shoot the project on the same day as it is assigned, I constantly try and think of what I could do for a project. I feel I could plan out more of what I want to shoot, because I just think of the ideas in my head and they don't always work out how I pictured. When a shot is hard to get, I try and achieve it, but I admit, it doesn't always work out the way I had initially planned for it to go, so I try something else. I accept other peoples' feedback on my work even though sometimes I may not agree with what has been said, and I think I accept my own work and have a positive attitude on it as well, even if it doesn't turn out as planned.
My participation in this class has been good, and I have worked independently throughout the block period, only moving onto something else when I have completed the assignment and there is nothing else posted on the blog for me to work on.
I think as a photographer, I could improve on my confidence a little bit and capture stronger concepts with better technical skills. The way I take photos could improve, meaning I can try and capture an image with the camera at different heights and angles, and even in Photoshop, I can use different effects to make my image more appealing.

II.
I'm not entirely sure what kind of project that we could do in this class, but maybe something with shadows or lighting.
